Nuviderm At Home Tattoo Removal: Week Two (Second Application) *Problems* July 18, 2008

Second Application @18 Days

This is so gross! I am having a really hard time to get the treated area to heal. The outside, the arm and a little bit of the head of the fairy has scabbed, but everything else is basically an open wound. This hurts REALLY bad. I have been ever increasingly concerned about infection, so last night I rinsed it with saline, and put Betadine on it (the brownish tint to my skin). Its really hard to keep it covered because the bandage will stick to the wound, even when I ‘tent’ the bandage, this really hurts too because than I have to rip off the bandage.

Now, this may be a good thing. This is pretty gross too! When I remove my bandages I have been noticing that the color has been draining out of the area.

This is a typical bandage. As you can see there is black and orange in it. Sorry, I know this is so gross. But, if anyone else is going through this, I think it is beneficial to post EVERYTHING that is going on during my use of Nuviderm. There is less color to my tattoo at this point, I just really need the area to start healing up, or I may have to go to the doctor. I think I’ll give it another week or two (I don’t have health insurance, so doctor visits are very last on my agenda).

Thank you for posting all of this. I think it’s very helpful to finally have someone put up their course of treatment so others can see it instead of blindly buying the bottle. I hope it heals up!

Thank you for documenting your progress! You are doing a great work for anyone considering this treatment – keep up the great work!

Heya, I dunno if you remember me from myspace but I sent you a message asking if you were going to continue this blog.
Just wanted to let you know that I don’t think this is gross for you to post at all haha. Very helpful and informational as well.
Keep it up and I hope it stops hurting soon! Good luck.

thanks for your posts, its good to know that i’m not the only inflicting chemical burns to myself! i am constanly comparing my tat to your pictures…wondering if i’m doing it right. its been 7 days since my first application at an admittedly weak %. after seeing the pix of your ‘frosting’ i’m going to suck it up and go for a higher % and more layers. thanks again.

I hope you are ok, I definitely think you should treat for infection. There are colloidal silver bandages used for burns that might be good, but honestly if you have a fever or the pain persists you should go to an urgent care center. I’m kind of worried that you haven’t posted in a few days. I am using this product too. Honestly it is good this is being documented. Corrie I would stick with a low dose, I think the 50% straight solution is too extreme. One thing I’ve noticed is how every day after the initial treatment the results become more dramatic. I think I am not going to do a second treatment after seeing the painful side effects. I am using a breathable non-stick colloidal silver bandage to help with the healing process as I feel that is crucial to managing potential infection. I can’t believe anyone would use this on their face. I am treating a 3″ green and blue sea turtle on the front of my ankle. I should take some photos I suppose. I only have one the day after the first treatment.

I’v been through this already trying to get rid of a tattoo and have now changed to laser. It took my skin an entire year to heal and get rid of that dark shadow that forms from the this process. Be very careful with this stuff. I’m not saying it doesn’t work, but I went through two rounds and finally gave up, let my skin heal and went for laser.

    Christy-

I am so glad to hear that the dark outline will fade. Did you do a professional chemical peel or a at home one? I’m curious what kind of results you got from the chemical peel? Thats really cool to point out that tattoo parlors have laser treatment too, I haven’t looked into it, but 100.00 a session isn’t too bad, its something I’m going to look into now! thanks so much for the information!

yeah I don’t know if I want to try this stuff or not. A girl at work at a horrible experience with this stuff. As far as infection goes, I could always soak it in vineger to clean it. Good luck!

Hi, i have also a tattoo which got a little infected but it doesnt look nothing like you have it, where abouts did u get it done?? i got mine on my lower back of my leg near my ankle. it has scabs around the stars and bow and eyes of my skull, but it stopped liking what ever it was and now look much better. Ive been using this baby rash cream which works. i have two tattoo’s the second one healed very well but the other one looks a little stupid. lol but i guess everyone has a different reaction to a tattoo.

This tattoo was actually never infected. Antibiotics were only precautionary. Also, This wasn’t right after getting the tattoo, it was resulting from the tattoo removal process. (I have had this tattoo for about 3 years before I Started using Nuviderm).
