Opalescence 35% Whitening Gel (At-Home Whitening System) -Application Two- April 9, 2009

Application Two………………………………………………………………Application One

Again, although vague I will see improvement in the whiteness even after only the second application. I used half as much gel this time around. First application I used a whole vile per top and bottom (2 total) WAY TOO MUCH! Which is why is spewed all over my gums after inserting the trays. I used 3/4 of one vile for both top and bottom tray, worked great; although a little still pressed into my gums, I just wiped it off. This application went much better than the first.

Note: The discoloration of the whiter color that are splotched on my teeth (mostly two front teeth) have been there since I was little this is NOT because of the opalescence whitening gel.

Initially when putting on the trays filled with opalescence I didn’t feel anything. Shortly after it did start stinging. It felt really weird; the gel started fizzing and bubbling after 5 minutes and continued until I took them out. I would highly recommended a drool cloth and a spit bucket! I literally had to run to the bathroom with drool running down my face, not such a pleasant experience.

Next application: I will pay more attention to keeping the gel OFF of my gums. I will also keep a towel and spit bowl near.

As with most whiteners the taste was gross. Melon flavor wasn’t pleasing, but I would be more surprised to find a whitener that does taste good.

My gums are more tender after the treatment, and look pretty beat up. Little areas were white initially after rinsing the gel off, and now are red and swollen.

I am going to have to stick to more natural light in my pictures from now on, to allow the pictures to be more comparable. I can definitely tell a difference in the whiteness of my teeth with just this one application.

Custom Trays & Opalescence 35% Whitening Gel (Custom Tray Process) April 7, 2009

Custom Trays:

o4 Custom Tray Kit

o2Separating three equal amounts of each material

o11Mixed one of each color ball together and pressed into mold

o3After biting down in the mold, this is the final result (This is what I sent back to the company to make the molds from).

…A Couple Weeks Later…

0021I got a case

0031The most important part…The custom trays!

I am really impressed with the quality and overall service from Brighter Smile Online. It didn’t take long to get the trays back. A painless process!

The area seems to have dried out. Although a typical scab has not formed a rough skin has. It feels similar to what I remember dried Elmers glue feels like. There is no pain or discomfort of any kind. The skin it tight, and a little area has cracked due to ankle movement from walking.

I am putting lotion on the area daily. I want to get to the store and get some vitamin E lotion when I can.

Application One…………………………Application Two

(One Week)

When in comparison to applications one and two’s first week I see more similarities with the first application. The area is not nearly as red as with the second application. Although, this time around the area doesnt seem as dried out and scabby as the first application.

We will just have to see how the healing process goes from here.

The area looks pretty nasty. It looks like a big blister, but there isn’t any fluid in it. It does not hurt, but is sensitive to the touch and stings if it rubs up against my pants or bed covers.

This is what day four looked like during my second application (the one that brought trouble):

dayfour Right now the outlining area is not nearly as red. Also the whitish lining surrounding the inside of the red line is also not present. What differs this time is the blistery looking skin.

  • Currently I am putting neosporin on the area once a day. I will continue doing this until Sunday ( 1 Week) .

The red isn’t as vibrant today. There is no pain at this point. Last application I was worried right when I saw how red the area was after applying Nuviderm, and that is not the case here, yet anyways. I will do a side by side comparison at 4-Days to show the differences between the previous applications and this one.

I was worried to take a hot shower this morning and the pain that was come from it, but it didn’t hurt at all. This differs from the previous treatments too. During the previous applications, if I covered the area with a blanket it would be somewhat uncomfortable, and warm/hot water running over it was painful; so far so good I think. The changes I have seen already at day two look to be positive.

Update

I think I spoke too soon. It’s been about 5 hours since the last photo. The area is becoming redder and there appears to be slight small blistering.  The area is not painful.

I also included a closer shot of the bottom area of the tattoo. You can see the slight blistering, and the funky texture of my skin currently. The color also seems to be getting darker (as it did with both my previous applications).

Nuviderm At Home Tattoo Removal: Day One (Third Application) March 29, 2009

I finally broke down and applied the third layer of Nuviderm today. I did the application quite different this time around.  Instead of sticking with 50 some percent strength like before I increased the strength per layer. Also instead of putting on 12-20 layers of TCA I put on 3. Instead of leaving it one for 3-5 additional minutes like before I washed the TCA off after I finished the third layer.

The First layer I applied was 46% strength.

The Second layer I applied was between 46% and 56%.

The Third layer I applied was 56% strength.

Surprisingly the area didn’t really frost when I was applying the TCA. It also didn’t sting much at all when I was applying the peel which was different then the first two application I did. After rinsing the area with cold water the stinging started.

Once I finished the application the area started to slowly frost. I had a hard time getting the legs frosted, similar problem that I had during the second application.

It has been about a half an hour since I applied the solution. The stinging has completely stopped.

Supplies! (Small Glass, Nuviderm, Measuring spoon (don’t know where the dropper went), Vaseline, alcohol wipe (provided by Nuviderm) and Neosporin. I also used Q-tips -Not Pictured-

-I used the Vaseline around the tattoo to help prevent dripping.

***HAHA I have to share my thoughts on this one!

So, Nuviderm has an ‘official’ wordpress blog now. Apparently they are trying to get everyone to ask their questions to this site. Now, what I find hilarious is I am curious how many of the Nuviderm reps have actually used the product???

Personally, I would rather talk to Joe Schmo who used the product for advice than some corporate employee whose paid to sell their product.

Hmmm…Just had to throw in my two-cents.

And…I did post the ACTUAL directions Nuviderm sent me…I did not just make those up (Previous Blog Entry).

**Thank you everyone who has followed my Nuviderm journey so far!**

UPDATE:

After about 5 hours the frosty white turned to pink. It looks and feels like a bad sunburn. Not painful. The area is warm to the touch.

Update! February 2009: Nuviderm Tattoo Removal Process. February 12, 2009

It’s been a few months since my last update, so I thought I should take some time to do that today. I would have to say that the draw back right now is: no matter how much lotion I use the tattooed area always looks dry and scaly (only visually not to the touch). I have been pretty forgetful with the Mederma, but have been applying that off and on too when ever I remember.

Before Nuviderm………………………NOW (2/12/09)………………………November 08′

As you can see there has been quite a bit fading since before I started Nuviderm, but it also has faded more since November. I am having a little bit of trouble fading the legs and arms for some reason, but the wings seem to have faded the most. (Maybe because black is harder to fade?)

I WILL be doing another application of nuviderm soon. I can’t say when exactly but I am hoping sometime within the next couple of weeks.

I noticed that it has been almost ONE YEAR since I’ve started this process. This is no where near a quick fix, and personally besides a skin graft I couldn’t imagine any type of tattoo removal as quick. Therefore I would highly NOT recommend using any higher than 45% Nuviderm. Nuviderm says that you can go much higher for quicker results…but those results will be a lot of scarring…trust me!

Note: I am in no way affiliated with Nuviderm.

My Teeth Before Whitening:

These pictures crack me up, they really do look goofy.

I never am able to find informative un-biased reviews with photos, so I decided to blog my entire whitening experience. My teeth are not terrible, but I have been noticing darker areas in-between my teeth for the first time. Since crest white strips only whiten the four front teeth, and being that the bottom strip never seemd to stay in place no matter how hard I try, I am hoping that a custom teeth mold, and gel application will get into those nooks and crannies as well as giving me the benefit of whitening more than just four teeth on the top and bottom.
